Fragrance Description:

Patchouli is the signature fragrance of the social revolution of the 1960s and is a familiar fragrance to many people worldwide.  The spicy earthy tones are often used as perfume on its own.

This oil is used as a fixative in oriental and earthy perfumes.

Patchouli is known as an uplifting fragrance, but is deeply sensual and comforting also.  The spicy earthiness of this oil promotes a warm, connected, contented feeling, which is why it is also considered an aphrodisiac.

Jen’s blending notes:

This oil really shines when used to augment a blend with earthy spice.

Patchouli will overpower less robust top notes.

Use caution with floral companion oils – if there are no herbal notes in the fragrance, patchouli will compete

Jen’s soapmaking notes:

A good dark patchouli will color soap.  This can be lessened with Titanium Dioxide, but can also be used to advantage to add depth to yellow or make orange with red or pinks shades.
