Lemongrass Essential Oil
Botanical Name: cymbopogon citratus
A native of Asia, the leaves of the plant are like giant blades of grass that grow to about 2 feet. The entire plant is harvested for essential oil extraction.
As both food and flavoring, as perfume.
Fragrance Family: Herbaceous
Perfumery Note: Top
Lemongrass is powerfully herbal with fresh, ginger-like tones. Promotes restful sleep, balancing. Is good for concentration and focus.
Jen’s blending notes:
It is a very good complement for other herbaceous and camphorous oils like Rosemary, or to add some herbal notes to florals that tend toward the herbaceous side like Rose.
Lemongrass can conflict with sweet or woodsy fragrances.
Jen’s soapmaking notes:
Noticeable acceleration. Don’t let the batter sit after adding fragrance. Not recommended for complex pours unless you are going to be quick about it.
Makes a softer soap every time, even in small amounts.
Fragrance definitely persists through the soapmaking process.
