Fragrance Family:  woodsy
Perfumery Note:  base

Fragrance Description:

Frankincense is an oil that has been used for centuries for a variety of purposes from religious ceremonies to funeral preparations.  It is a known preservative and antiseptic as well as a skin balm.  Since it is a non-water loving oil, it can best be enjoyed in a product like a bath bomb that forces it to disperse and stay mixed.

It has a very spicy nature that is the familiar fragrance found in traditional churches.  The aromatherapy effect is to bring out feelings and help in meditation.  It is known as a soulful aroma.

Jen’s blending notes:

An excellent base, only tiny amounts are needed.  Frankincense adds complexity to other simpler woodsy or earthy fragrances.  Pine oils blend particularly well, as well as very strong florals like Lavender and Jasmine.

Jen’s soapmaking notes:

There is some sharpness to frankincense that persists through soapmaking. Be careful that other oils in the blend also survive pretty well, otherwise the frankincense will overpower the others.
