About the Ingredients
Sweet Almond Oil is a light, fast absorbing oil that glides on smoothly. It has almost no scent of its own to interfere with the fragrance.
|Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis (Sweet Almond) Nut Oil||What It Is: A light yellow liquid.|
How It's Used: Adds moisturizing and fludity to cosmetics. It soaks into skin quickly and leaves minimal residue. Due to its feeling of lightness and a comedogenic rating of 2, it is often used directly on skin as a facial oil on its own.
How It's Made: Dried nuts of the Almond tree are cold pressed to extract the oil. Our Sweet Almond Oil is not refined, deodorized, or processed.
|Piper Nigrum (Black Pepper) Oil||What It Is: A spicy, fresh, slighty musky peppery scent. In aromatherapy, Black Pepper Oil helps with energy and alertness.|
How It's Used: Black Pepper Oil is prized in skin care due to high antioxidants.
How It's Made: The berry fruit of the plant is harvested and dried, then steam distilled.
|Boswellia Carteri (Frankincense) Oil||What It Is: Arguably the world's most holy scent, the spicy, woodsy aroma is used in religious contexts all over the world. In aromatherapy, this is a spirit engaging fragrance, assisting with meditation, clarity of emotions, and soulful reflection.|
How It's Used: Frankincense has been used as a beautifying oil for centuries and promotes hydration.
How It's Made: The bark of the tree is cut to make the sap "weep" out, then weeks later the tears are collected. Frankincense is usually diluted in a solvent to make it usable as an oil.
|Cananga Odorata (Ylang Ylang) Oil||What It Is: A deeply floral with mild spice and balsamic tones, this oil is called the "flower of flowers". Tiny amounts are extremely noticeable in any blend. In aromatherapy, Ylang-Yland is aphrodisiac. It is also helpful for managing anger and depression, and facilitates feelings of gratitude and celebration.|
How It's Used: Ylang-ylang combats oily skin in a balanced way that also prevents dryness.
How It's Made: Steam distilled from the flowers. Several grades of Ylang-Ylang are available, taken at different times during the distillation process.
|Chrysopogon Zizanioides (Vetiver) Root Oil||What It Is: A dark, visous liquid, Vetiver Oil is earthy, spicy, and herbaceous. It is used in many men's fragrances. In aromatherapy, Vetiver oil is used for emotional healing, stress relief, and promoting tranquility.|
How It's Used: Vetiver oil is moisturizing and soothing to the skin.
How It's Made: The roots of the plant are aged, then soaked in water. The thick oil is released from the roots into the water and is skimmed off and bottled.
Roll directly onto skin, massage to distribute as needed.
